Today was one of those 7 Days days where I left the house, thought about taking a picture at the store, decided I'd do it later, got home, thought about taking a picture, decided I'd do it later, and repeated this process until 11pm, when I thought, 'OMG, it's 7 Days today!'

Good, because I don't know what to put in a protein shake.

You can't really see it in the first photo, but there's an asterisk next to 'got cocoa?' which explains why this side of the mug also has one. The bottom of the mug is signed, dated, and says, 'It's a FACT: Kristen is funny,' but I can't show you that until I finish drinking my shake.

The wonderfully talented Bethany sent me my very own Dotty Mug! While I'm out of cocoa supplies for the summer (not that it's too hot for it right now), it's a good large mug that is perfect for my protein shakes. When I took this, I thought Packet was just sniffing the mug, but on further review, she's actually trying to drink the protein shake. Oops.

I've been distracted and maybe lazy regarding this run of 7 Days, so I missed Day 3. Last night, Packet reminded me that playing is good for the soul. Well, for hers. And only if I'm doing it right. Which means, 'Quit taking pictures and make the string move!'

My back's all hurty, and it was colder out today, so I just stayed in and didn't do anything creative for the first day like I'd wanted to. None of the self-portraits I took were entirely in focus, either, so I just picked the cutest one of Packet and played with it. Check out her psychedelic right eye and her lips. They crack me up :)

We should order Animal Planet just so Packet has something to watch all day. She is seriously into wildlife documentaries. I had to pull up a chair for her to sit in because my lap wasn't good enough and she had to sit like a prairie dog when she sat on the floor. What a princess.

She sat right there for about 25 minutes straight, following the stories about the wolves and other animals of Yellowstone. Occasionally, she'd look from the TV to her window, like she was wondering how come HER window never has elk and bison in it.

In the time it took me to get the camera and turn it on, Packet decided everything was OK and she went over to her dish to start eating; however, she insisted on smelling everything before she'd let me put any of it away. She's more thorough than the border guards.

It's like having a really fuzzy James Brown running around the house. She'd never willingly get in a hot tub, but she's awfully dramatic and she enjoys having someone put a cape on her so she can throw it off while she begs for food. I guess she's got soul. She digs the blues - she's loved Pink Floyd ever since she was a kitten.

I hate plastic bags. I hate them, and you can't make me like them.

I went to bed way after midnight, so I took my Day 3 picture before falling asleep. Packet has started claiming the feather pillow as her own and sleeping there, sometimes all night. She used to sleep at the foot of the bed, but I can get rather kicky when I sleep, so she's moved to the head of the bed. (Note: this is one of the reasons Darren has his own bed; apparently my knees will seek and destroy anything soft, fleshy, and precious while I'm happily dreaming away. Another reason is that we sleep on different schedules.)

Packet loves when I make pudding. She knows the sound of pudding mix being emptied into the milk, and she definitely knows the sound of the beater. If I don't share with her, I have to put up with begging eyes for hours on end. If I DO share, I get to see this face a lot. Notice the cute wrinkles on her nose.

Over 40 oz of yarn (each TP roll holds at least 1 oz, some hold more, and the spindle has 2+ oz on it) that will become a 4-ply yarn for my mom's sweater. It just occurred to me that the recycling guys will probably wonder why I'm suddenly throwing away 37 TP rolls next week.

For Thebug, to show my method for winding singles off my spindle and onto toilet paper rolls. I actually cut a slit into the top and into the bottom so I can tuck ends in wherever they need to be tucked.

The princess let me groom her
It's a rare occasion when I get to brush the extra fur out of Packet's coat without (my) bloodshed. This fur was just from the one side. It's not like she's going to just turn over and let me brush both sides on the same night. Or in the same week. That would be generous, and she feels that she's being VERY generous just because she doesn't poop on my pillow every night (she never has, and I actually am very grateful for that).

Now that Packet has an apartment to herself again, she's a lot more playful. This here is one of her favorite toys, and it makes the coolest 'skshhhh' noise on the floor when thrown from the living room into the kitchen. Sometimes, I don't throw it right, and I have to go get it and try again. Packet says, 'If you wanted a dog, you should have gotten a dog. Throw the toy right this time.'

Not feeling creative about the theme today. Packet's not feeling it, either, apparently! I threw an old towel over her new window perch to cover the grippy tape, and that seems to have effectively turned it into the Loaf Shelf I intended. Score one for me!

When Packet wants to play, she sits up on the stairs and demands that I offer my hand as a sacrifice to her claws. She's pretty good about just punching and slapping me, but after a few minutes she gets all excited and starts grabbing with her claws.

This is at the old apartment, and this is the face Packet makes when you say, "Hi, George!" or when she saw him cruising the neighborhood. She has such a crush on him still.
