What a day for hanging your wool yarn outside
I washed and whacked the yarn for Ma's sweater and hung it out on the clothesline. Today is gorgeous.

New fiber from Lettuce Knit
I cashed in my last bday gift certificate from my sister for this. 200g of BFL/silk blend. Beautiful!

My current spinning project
Mom's sweater yarn is spun and plied, so I was anxious to start a new spinning project with COLORS in it. The braid is three separate colors (one blue, one green, one teal), so I'm randomly ripping off tufts and spinning them in any order and length. I'll either two-ply or navajo-ply when I'm done, depending on which looks better. Meanwhile, I'm actually missing the fluorescent lighting and Darren's black computer chair from the in-laws' basement. That was always a perfect place to take yarn and fiber pictures.

Depressed fish
This was an aquarium at Red Lobster. Katie gave this guy a voice, and apparently during the whole meal, he was chiding us for eating seafood.

Ravelympics WIP no. 1 down
All I had to do was weave in the ends and take FO pictures. Only one FO picture turned out well thanks to my thick ankles and Mister's tendency to sit between me and the camera during timer shots.

I used Wendy Johnson's toe-up gusset heels, which fit fabulously. The only problem is that I intended these socks to be for my mom (her feet are two sizes smaller than mine), but they fit me. On the one hand, I'm thrilled to have another pair of socks for myself, but on the other, Ma doesn't have as many pairs of handknit socks as I do. Plus, these are perfect in just about every way. The stripes MATCH. That was completely unintended, and I didn't notice until they were finished.

BEFORE
This was the camera case before today - a zippered, thermal lunchbox. Now I have an actual camera case.

Smurf Sherbet, soft focus
The colors are OK on this end, but mostly because there's not a lot of contrast, I think. Natural light still works best.

Smurf Sherbet yarn
I finished plying and set the twist yesterday. I'm going to have to take a nice picture of this outside when the sun comes out, because the color just isn't right. The yarn is some very very soft merino given to me by Nishanna last year. Right around 2 oz and 208 yards. Andean (handy) plied.

Gratuitous singles closeup
I'm spinning up 2oz of gifted merino from Nishanna. It's beautiful and bouncy, but we don't know where it came from or the name of the colorway.

Unknown merino and Packet
Spindle is from Castle Fibers (castleman on Etsy), merino is from Nishanna, Packet is from Cincinnati.

Quit mocking me
I got all hunched over, looked through the viewfinder, and saw Packet hunched over and looking back at me.
